LIMONE SUL GARDA

and its events

The village of lemons and sweeping vistas

Resting on the northwestern shore of Lake Garda, Limone sul Garda is one of the lake’s most charming and picturesque destinations. Its name comes from the Latin “limen”, meaning “border,” a reminder of this ancient village’s position between mountain and water.

Once isolated and reachable only by boat or mountain paths, Limone’s economy was based on fishing, olive cultivation, and lemon groves. The turning point came in 1932, with the construction of the Western Gardesana Road, which opened the village to the world and began its touristic growth.

Today, Limone is renowned for its picturesque old town, ancient lemon houses, and breathtaking panoramas. Walking through its cobbled alleys, one can still admire the pillars and stone walls of the historic lemon greenhouses — symbols of its agricultural and cultural identity.

Among the most famous is the Limonaia del Castèl, dating back to the 18th century and now open for guided visits, where one can breathe the atmosphere of a time when Limone was the northernmost place in the world for citrus cultivation.

A place where tradition, nature, and hospitality come together, offering an authentic and unforgettable experience on Lake Garda.
